Sinfonía Biótica is an interspecies creative ecosystem: an immersive interactive virtual reality experience in which humans, plants and fungi collaborate to create a unique audiovisual piece.
Each non-human organism acts as an audiovisual instrument within this symphony. Based on the data generated by their electrical impulses, movements and sounds, each one interprets a part of the sound biocomposition.
The player’s movements and voice are integrated as another instrument, contributing to the creation of a unique and unrepeatable collaborative piece. Through a synaesthetic experience, all this data, which generates the sound piece, is reflected in the visual realm, creating a multisensory experience.
This experience explores a virtual reality where humans and trees co-create unique audiovisual pieces. We digitise emblematic trees in Spain in the form of point clouds, each one contributing collaboratively to the visual and sound design of the piece.
The barrier between viewer and creator disappears. The movements and actions of the person wearing the headset generate the sound and visual landscape in real time. The electrical activity of the selected trees, recorded over 48 hours and digitised using Gaussian splatting techniques, is integrated into these point clouds, which are altered in real time by the previously recorded data. These impulses also activate sounds within the sound design.
As a result, humans and trees become co-creators of a unique audiovisual piece, whose form will depend on factors such as the time of day, the electrical activity of the plant, and the intensity of the person’s movements during the experience.
