María Castro is a Colombian composer of electroacoustic music, sound artist, and Senior Audio Designer specializing in video games with over seven years of professional experience. Her work explores the intersection of art, science, and interactive technology. She integrates electroacoustic composition, soundscapes and sound design with interactivity, using digital tools to explore new forms of sonic expression in both physical and virtual contexts. She has contributed to international projects in video games, VR/AR, and interactive installations, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that sound and music are coherently integrated with the artistic narrative.

Holding a degree in contemporary composition and a master’s in electroacoustic composition and new technologies, she applies her training in music, technology, and interactive media to audio projects and immersive sonic environments. Her practice is always grounded in the convergence of multiple disciplines, where music, sound, and interactivity act as bridges between the physical and digital worlds, offering spaces for experimentation and non-linear creative approaches. She has presented her work at international festivals such as Ars Electronica Forum Wallis, Q-O2, Canal Connect, BAH Festival, and Festival Paralelo, collaborating on projects that combine music, digital art, VR/AR, instrument lutherie and interactive performance.

Inspired by pioneering women in electronic and electroacoustic music, her methodology focuses on open experimentation and the exploration of new forms of sonic interaction. She currently works as a Senior Audio Designer at NoBrakesGames, leading sound design and technical audio integration for international video game projects.
